Sioux Falls, SD - July 27, 2017 - The American Coalition for Ethanol (ACE) announces and congratulates the 2017 scholarship winners: Carrie Kemmet, Hailea DeJong and Keithen Drury.

Each student receives a $1,000 scholarship through ACE’s Scholarship Program to help further their collegiate education.

“ACE congratulates these bright, young students and wishes them the best of luck as they pursue their future careers,” said Brian Jennings, ACE executive vice president.

“Students today are the leaders of tomorrow and their education is critically important for the future development of biofuels, its associated industries and beyond.”

Carrie Kemmet of Eleva, Wisconsin, will be attending Purdue University, where she is enrolled in the first-year engineering curriculum and the Honors College.

Carrie is the daughter of Neal and Lucinda Kemmet. Her father Neal is employed with ACE ethanol producer member plant Ace Ethanol in Stanley, Wisconsin.

“Thank you not only for this scholarship, but for years of providing my father with a great job,” Carrie expressed in a thank you letter.

“My entire family is affected by my dad’s good job, and we appreciate the goals and achievements of the ethanol community.

"I’m especially proud to have a dad who’s working toward cleaner fuels and helping the environment.”

Hailea DeJong is from Madison, South Dakota, and will be pursuing nursing at the University of South Dakota.

Hailea is the daughter of Jeff and Jennifer DeJong.

Her mother Jennifer works for ACE member East River Electric in Madison.

Keithen Drury from Blue Hill, Nebraska, is a junior at Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa, pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Keithen is the son of Terry and Penny Drury. His father Terry is employed at ACE ethanol producer member Chief Ethanol Fuels in Hastings, Nebraska.

“I appreciate the generosity of the American Coalition for Ethanol in providing this gift to further my education,” Drury wrote in a thank you letter.

“I look forward to representing ACE in classes whenever responsible energy use is brought up.”

The ACE Scholarship Program was initiated in 2004, and ACE has awarded $50,000 since then.

Scholarships are made available to employees and dependents of employees and shareholders of ACE Ethanol Producer, Voting and Associate member companies and organizations in good standing.
