Sioux Falls, SD - August 10, 2017 - The American Coalition for Ethanol (ACE) congratulates member plants reaching anniversary milestones this summer, including POET Biorefining - Big Stone’s 15-year anniversary event today at the Speedway Event Center in Milbank, South Dakota, and Glacial Lakes Energy LLC’s (GLE) 15-year celebration and commencement of its Watertown, South Dakota, unit train facility July 18.

“The ethanol industry landscape has changed significantly over the past 15 years, and for POET Big Stone and Glacial Lakes Energy to have operated profitable, innovative ethanol plants through that 15-year history shows tremendous fortitude,” said Brian Jennings, ACE executive vice president.

“These plants have brought economic benefits to not only their respective South Dakota locations, but the greater state and national economies.

"ACE congratulates these plants on reaching this significant milestone.”

Jennings will speak at POET Big Stone’s meeting today along with Northern Growers LLC CFO Bob Narem and POET representatives Seth Artz and Blaine Gomer.

POET Biorefining - Big Stone is majority owned by Northern Growers of Milbank with Broin Investments of Sioux Falls also an investor.

After becoming fully operational in June of 2002, the 79 million-gallon-per-year (MGPY) plant will produce its billionth ethanol gallon later this Fall.

Last month, ACE staff Liz Bunkers, director of member and industry relations; Chuck Beck, director of special projects and outreach; and Katie Fletcher, communications director, attended GLE’s anniversary gathering and toured its unit train track addition at its plant in Watertown.

Watertown’s mayor, Sarah Caron, and South Dakota Lieutenant Governor, Matt Michels, were among others who attended the celebration.

GLE CEO Jim Seurer and Chairman Mark Schmidt offered remarks to a crowd of over 600 at the event.

Their remarks highlighted the economic impacts the ethanol plant has had on the Watertown community.

Combined with GLE’s second 100 MGPY plant in Mina, South Dakota, the company’s plants purchase over 80 million bushels of corn to produce more than 240 million gallons of ethanol and over 600,000 tons of feed products and distillers grains annually.

ACE is grateful for the opportunity to join communities at these events because it serves as a reminder of the impact the ethanol industry has on people across the country.

Other ACE ethanol plant members celebrating 10- or 15-year anniversaries this summer include Redfield Energy, Siouxland Ethanol and Pinal Energy.
