Butamax Files Patent Infringement Suit Against Gevo Over Biobutanol Intellectual Property

Wilmington, DE—Butamax™ Advanced Biofuels, LLC filed Jan. 14 a patent infringement lawsuit against Gevo, Inc for its use of Butamax biobutanol technology.

The lawsuit was filed in U.S. Federal District Court in the District of Delaware.

Butamax patent 7851188 was granted in December, 2010.

This patent encompasses biocatalysts developed to produce isobutanol and provides protection for Butamax and its pioneering work in this field.

Butamax has filed an extensive patent portfolio for its proprietary technology across the biofuels value chain including biocatalyst, bioprocess and fuels.

A number of patent applications by Butamax have been successfully accepted into the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) Green Technology Pilot Program for accelerated review.
