Date Posted: August 11, 2010

Minneapolis, MN—Regional accounting and consulting firm Eide Bailly LLP announced Aug. 11 that Jim Schmidt, a partner in the firm's Minneapolis office, has assumed additional responsibilities for leading the firm's expansion efforts in the emerging biomass and biogas sectors of the renewable fuels industry.

In this role, he will be responsible for providing strategic leadership in the development and execution of the firm's strategy for the biomass/biogas sector.

Schmidt, who has worked with renewable fuels organizations, cooperatives and agricultural entities throughout his career, will continue to chair Eide Bailly's Renewable Fuels Committee.

Additionally, he is currently a judge in the Clean Technology and Renewable Energy division of the Minnesota Cup, a statewide contest that rewards aspiring entrepreneurs and their ideas.

Greg Barber, partner-in-charge of the Minneapolis office, noted, "As the marketplace continues to look for new sources of energy, it is natural to look to waste, crop reside and organic matter as feedstocks.

"Jim has been involved with the renewable fuels industry since the first ethanol plants were built, and his passion for how these alternative fuel sources benefit the environment and consumers make him a natural fit to lead our initiatives with these new energy sources."

Eide Bailly provides a full array of business advisory, tax and assurance services.

The Firm has 19 offices, including offices in major markets such as Denver, Phoenix, Oklahoma City and approximately 200 professionals serving the Minneapolis and Greater Minnesota markets.
