Date Posted: April 8, 2015

Des Plaines, IL, April 08, 2015 — GTI International (GTII), a subsidiary of Gas Technology Institute (GTI), today announced it has acquired Davis Energy Group (DEG), a professional R&D; and energy consulting firm serving residential and commercial markets.

“This acquisition represents an important component of GTI’s growth initiative, building on last year’s subsidiary additions and start-ups.

"We continue to enhance our overall portfolio and expand the services we provide our customers, increasing the value and impact of our collective organizations,” says Ron Snedic, GTI International President and Vice President of Corporate Development at GTI.

DEG has been in business for more than thirty years, with a diverse business portfolio that includes capabilities in residential and commercial energy efficiency and sustainability consulting and programs; product and system evaluation; building, HVAC, and water heating research; and technology assessment and standards development.

The company works with a wide variety of customers, including state energy agencies, federal government, utilities, home builders and developers, manufacturers, and other private sector clients.

With headquarters in Davis, California, the location will help GTI better serve existing clientele in the state as well as provide greater access to new partners.

Notes Snedic, “With the addition of DEG, GTI and GTII will have approximately 50 energy professionals located in California.

"DEG has a solid engineering team which complements GTI’s California R&D; Group and is additional talent we can leverage with the commercial kitchen energy efficiency expertise of our subsidiary Fisher-Nickel based in San Ramon, California.”

“This stronger presence will provide more opportunities to work with the Energy Commission and other state energy agencies, and we are well positioned to serve this robust energy market.

GTI’s Emerging Technology Program (ETP) is accelerating the use of new and more efficient end use equipment, and subsidiary CDH Energy provides energy system and technology analysis with a focus on distributed generation (DG) and CHP markets.

The GTI family of programs and companies has the comprehensive slate of expertise needed to lower energy consumption, reduce energy costs, and control greenhouse gas emissions for businesses and families.”

“DEG has a diverse customer base, experience in multiple disciplines, and the resources to handle a wide variety of projects. We will expand GTI’s capabilities in the residential sector, including energy modeling, monitoring & verification, emerging technologies, standards development, and zero net energy and sustainability program support,” says David Springer, Vice President of DEG.

“GTI can use our connections to private sector clients, particularly home builders and national accounts, to help promote the benefits of energy efficiency and new technologies that take advantage of renewables and clean natural gas to reduce carbon emissions.”

GTI’s reputation and technical insight will enable DEG to pursue larger projects and provide greater impact for their clients.

“We’re excited about the opportunities ahead to leverage GTI’s capabilities and relationships to serve a broader market and bring a wider range of services to our customers,” notes Mark Berman, Vice President of DEG.
