ICGA and Gateway International Raceway in Madison, IL to Hold E85 Challenge Race on October 15Date Posted: October 1, 2008 Madison, IL—E-85 ethanol fuel is known as a domestically grown, renewable fuel that is powering an increasing number of flexible fuel cars and trucks, but it is gaining a growing reputation as a high performance and racing fuel. You can find out why on Wednesday, October 15 when the Illinois Corn Growers Association, Gateway International Raceway and Mustang 5.0 Magazine run an E-85 Challenge at Gateway International Raceway, in Madison, Illinois. "The first national event of its kind will showcase street legal, production line built and custom made performance cars running on America’s fuel. "The Challenge will show how flexible E85 is in today's cars and shine a spotlight on how ethanol, known primarily for its environmental and economic contributions, is also a high octane product," said Art Bunting, Illinois Corn Growers Association president of Dwight. "We have known for some time E-85 delivers performance in our flex fuel cars and now the performance of the fuel will be shown in quarter mile times. "E-85 is priced lower at the pump for street cars than regular gasoline. "We are proud to host this event right here in Madison, IL and we are equally proud of all the American farmers for their significant contribution to renewable fuels for this event and for our country’s future.” said Lenny Batycki, of Gateway International Raceway. Teams will be striving to cover the quarter mile in the quickest amount of time for their cars. The event beings at 2:00 p.m. and admission is free. The E85 Challenge is scheduled for 2 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. After 5 p.m. gate admission is $10. Gateway International Raceway will go from the E-85 Challenge right into their Slick Tire Test and Tune Featuring Doc's Harley Davidson Quick Street Bike program.
