Iowa Biodiesel Stations Earn Renewable Fuels Awards

Date Posted: July 3, 2008

•Des Moines—On June 26, Governor Chet Culver announced 21 new awards approved by the state’s Renewable Fuels Infrastructure Board (RFIB) totaling $777,600 to assist Iowa retailers to install pumps for E-85 ethanol and biodiesel fuel, terminals installing biodiesel blending equipment, and tank wagons with dedicated compartments for E-85 and biodiesel for farm delivery.

“I believe with gas approaching four dollars a gallon and petroleum at record prices, now is the right time to reaffirm our common commitment to clean, renewable fuels,” said Governor Chet Culver.

“Increased access to E-85 and biodiesel is good for Iowa consumers, good for the environment, and good for Iowa farmers.”

Iowa Department of Economic Development Director Michael Tramontina said, “Our continued expansion of E-85 ethanol and biodiesel access demonstrates Iowa's commitment to greater use of renewable energy.
