POET Representatives Testify June 25 at EPA Hearing in Kansas City, MO

Date Posted: June 25, 2015

Kansas City, KS—Two POET General Managers and a representative from POET Ethanol Products will testify June 25 in defense of the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) during the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) public hearing in Kansas City, MO.

Greg Olson (General Manager at POET Biorefining – Corning), Steve Murphy (General Manager at POET Biorefining – Laddonia and POET Biorefining – Macon) and Mark DeVries (Business Development Manager at POET Ethanol Products) will testify about the negative effects the EPA’s recent Renewable Volume Obligation proposal will have on the ethanol industry and future development of second-generation biofuels, including cellulosic ethanol.

On May 29, the EPA announced proposed volume requirements for the amount of biofuel to be blended in the nation’s fuel supply for 2014, 2015 and 2016.

These proposed volumes fall short of the statutory requirements established in the RFS.

A public comment period on the proposal ends July 27.
