Petroleum Equipment Institute (PEI) Launches News Feed on Twitter

Date Posted: March 17, 2010

Tulsa, OK—Illustrating its commitment to education and promotion of the petroleum and liquid handling equipment industry, the Petroleum Equipment Institute (PEI) announced March 17 that the PEI News Feed is now available on Twitter.

The PEI News Feed features information from a number of sources, including PEI member and association news, industry announcements and stories from the PEI Journal.

Safety resources, including the SafetyLetter and SafePractices, will also be available through the PEI News Feed.

The PEI News Feed can be found at www.twitter.com/PEInewsfeed.

"With the growing popularity of social media, we felt this was the right time to develop a tool like the PEI News Feed," said Robert N. Renkes, executive vice president of PEI.

"We believe it will be useful in several capacities, most importantly in keeping our members abreast of association news and news from around the industry," Renkes continued.

"The PEI News Feed will serve as a very powerful tool to inform and educate not only our industry, but anyone wishing to learn more about petroleum equipment, the history of our industry or our bright future. We are very excited about the launch of PEI News Feed and we feel the sharing of information and ideas could help revolutionize communications within our industry," Renkes said.

Member companies wishing to contribute news to PEI News Feed and the "Member News" section of the PEI website should email Chris Bouldin, Program Director for PEI at cbouldin@pei.org.

Twitter is a social networking and microblogging service that enables users to send and read messages known as "tweets," or text-based posts of up to 140 characters.

Tweets will be displayed on a PEINewsfeed's profile page and delivered to PEINewsfeed's subscribers, known as followers.

Users can send and receive tweets via the Twitter website, free of charge.
