Range Fuels Appoints John Winter as Vice President of Process Engineering

Palo Alto, CA and Broomfield, CO—Range Fuels, Inc., a company focused on green energy and the production of cellulosic ethanol, announced today that John Winter has joined the company as Vice President of Process Engineering.

Winter brings to Range Fuels 30 years of experience in operating gasification plants, research and development, and process engineering, including process design, development, and optimization.

At Range Fuels, Winter will be responsible for process development and definition functions for the Company’s demonstration and commercial plants, reporting to Rick Winsor, Range Fuels’ President and COO.

“John’s deep experience in process engineering, especially in the field of gasification, will add significant value to Range Fuels’ efforts to improve our proprietary K2 system, the two-step thermo-chemical process being applied in our Soperton Plant and in additional cellulosic ethanol projects,” said Mitch Mandich, Range Fuels’ CEO.

“His efforts will be especially crucial as we continue to streamline and improve our plants’ capital and operating cost structure.”

Winter most recently served as Vice President of Engineering at Evergreen Energy, where he focused his efforts on coal to clean energy solutions.

Prior to Evergreen, John held the distinguished engineering position of Chief Engineer-Gasification for GE Energy.

Winter’s experience spans research and development, running gasification plants, and process engineering for a variety of companies including GE Energy, Chevron-Texaco and The Dow Chemical Company.

John holds a bachelor’s and master’s degrees in chemical engineering from The University of Alabama and a doctorate in chemical engineering from the University of Houston.
