Houston—Russell Industries, Inc. (Pink Sheets:RUSL), announces that it is has made an unsolicited noncompetitive proposal to the U.S. Department of Energy under its Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Financial Opportunity Program.

The Company is proposing to build a 20 acre Algae Farm that will use photo-bio reactors to produce Algae Oil and sell it to BioDiesel fuel manufacturers.

The proposed Algae Farm will be located in the Houston area with proximity to the ship channel. According to Barry Cohen, founder of The National Algae Association, “This will help diversify Houston as not just the energy capital, but the alternative energy capital, of the United States.”
