WI and CA Fund Biodiesel Production and Fueling ExpansionsDate Posted: October 1, 2010 This article is reprinted from the October NBB Biodiesel Bulletin Wisconsin and California are two states that see the benefits of biofuels and they are putting their money where their mouth is. Biodiesel Producer and National Biodiesel Board Member Sun Power Biodiesel of Cumberland, WI recently received a $1.1 Million grant from the state and federal government. The funding will allow Sun Power Biodiesel to purchase equipment and working capital for their 3 million gallon a year biodiesel production plant. "We're grateful for the confidence shown in us by the State of Wisconsin," said Sun Power Biodiesel Co-owner Ron Ruppel in an article in Wisconsin Ag Connection. "We're excited to continue to grow our business and add to the employment in Barron County." In Oakland California, Propel Fuels, CALSTART and East Bay Clean Cities received a $10.9 million grant from the U.S. Department of Energy and California Energy Commission to build and operate 75 retail alternative fuel stations throughout California. The stations are anticipated to displace 39 million gallons of petroleum and 187,500 tons of greenhouse gases per year according the the groups news release. For more information, call 573-635-3893.
