Cargill Buys Rupert ID Feed Mill from Koch Industries

Date Posted: September 21, 2000

Rupert, ID (September 8)–Cargill Animal Nutrition Division has purchased the newly constructed feed mill here from Koch Industries, Inc., and plans to have it in operation in early October.

Cargill will provide balanced feed solutions, including mineral and protein supplements, as well as ration balancing and management consulting.

"Idaho is the fastest growing dairy state in the country," said Crystal Nelson, district general manager for Cargill Animal Nutrition Division in Sterling, Colo. "Operating this mill is an opportunity to offer Cargill's large herd nutrition and management technology to producers in this area." An example of Cargill technology, Nelson said, would be nutritional modeling that provides the ability to balance digestible amino acids.

The mill has a capacity of about 80,000 tons annually. It initially will employ seven to eight people including two Dairy Management Consultants.
