Former Sen. Santorum and Dorgan to Discuss U.S. Energy Policy at Iowa Renewable Fuels Summit

Date Posted: January 13, 2015

Johnston, IA — Two national leaders on energy policy will share their views on the future of U.S. energy policy with attendees of the 9th Annual Iowa Renewable Fuels Summit on January 27.

The Iowa Renewable Fuels Association (IRFA) today announced former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum and former North Dakota Sen. Byron Dorgan will address the Summit.

Former Sen. Rick Santorum (Pa.) has written and spoken about energy policy extensively since retiring from the Senate in 2007.

Santorum was an outspoken supporter of the federal Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) during his successful 2012 Iowa Caucus effort.

Upon retiring, former Sen. Byron Dorgan (N.D.) became co-chair of the Strategic Energy Policy Initiative at the Bipartisan Policy Center.

Dorgan has spoken often of the positive role biodiesel and other renewable fuels should play in a comprehensive U.S. energy policy.

“It’s exciting to have two nationally known energy policy leaders speaking at the Summit,” stated IRFA Executive Director Monte Shaw.

“They each have years of experience, and bring a unique perspective on the energy challenges facing the United States. These public servants are going to be part of the energy discussion for some time.”
