IA Gov. Branstad to Discuss Iowa's Leadership in Biofuels at 2015 Iowa Renewable Fuels Summit, Jan. 27 in Altoona

Johnston, IA—The Iowa Renewable Fuels Association (IRFA) announced Jan. 6 Iowa Governor Terry Branstad and Lt. Gov. Kim Reynolds will discuss Iowa’s leadership in the production of biofuels, such as ethanol and biodiesel, at the 9th Annual Iowa Renewable Fuels Summit and Trade Show on Jan. 27, 2015 at The Meadows Conference Center in Altoona, IA.

“Governor Branstad has been a steadfast supporter of renewable fuels, and through his proactive leadership Iowa has become the number one renewable fuels producing state,” stated IRFA President Brian Cahill.

“Iowa’s renewable fuels community is looking forward to hearing the Governor discuss continuing Iowa’s renewable fuels leadership and urging the EPA to maintain a strong and growing federal Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) at this year’s Summit.”

Iowa is the leader in renewable fuels production. Iowa has 42 ethanol refineries capable of producing over 3.8 billion gallons annually, with three cellulosic ethanol projects currently under construction.

In addition, Iowa has 12 biodiesel facilities with the capacity to produce nearly 315 million gallons annually.

The Iowa Renewable Fuels Association was formed in 2002 to represent the state’s liquid renewable fuels industry.

The trade group fosters the development and growth of the renewable fuels industry in Iowa through education, promotion, legislation and infrastructure development.
