EPA Approves Misfueling Mitigation Conditions For E15

Date Posted: June 15, 2012

EPA is approving June 15 the first plans for satisfying the misfueling mitigation conditions of the E15 partial waivers, which allow model year (MY) 2001 and newer passenger vehicles to use a gasoline-ethanol blend that contains up to 15% ethanol.

The plans work in coordination with EPA’s 2011 misfueling mitigation rule to help ensure that consumers make the appropriate fuel choices for their vehicles.

The approval of misfueling mitigation plans for some companies is the last type of action EPA must take for E15 to be lawfully sold under the Clean Air Act.

These companies have now met all Clean Air Act requirements related to E15 and may lawfully introduce E15 into the marketplace under the Act.
