IA Congressman David Young Criticizes EPA For 2017/18 Renewable Fuel Volume Requirements

Date Posted: May 19, 2016

Washington - Iowa Congressman David Young released the following statement after the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced the 2017 and 2018 renewable volume obligation (RVO) requirements for biofuels under the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) will fall under levels mandated by Congress:

“The EPA has again failed to meet the requirements set by Congress, stifling economic growth in our rural communities and reducing consumer choice.

"This is another example of Washington bureaucrats overstepping their constitutional role, and Iowans deserve better.

"I am committed to supporting a strong RFS to empower our farmers, producers and the 43,000 Iowans working in support of the biofuels economy.”

David Young is the Congressman serving all the people of Iowa’s Third Congressional District.

He is a member of the Committee on Appropriations and Subcommittees on Agriculture, Homeland Security, and Transportation, Housing and Urban Development.
