Blackmer Introduces New TXC1200 Series Pumps

Date Posted: July 3, 2008

Grand Rapids, MI—Blackmer, a manufacturer of positive displacement rotary vane pump and compressor technologies, has introduced the TXD1200 Series high-speed truck pumps to adapt to specific changes in the light petroleum products markets.

Some of the recent changes that are affecting truck and transport pumps include:

•OEM installers are finding it more difficult to match automatic transmission models with available PTO ratios and current pump speeds.

• Higher rotation speeds are becoming more common.

• New engine emission regulations often require that the engine off-loading speeds be increased from previous standards.

The new TXD1200 Series from Blackmer is ideal for pumping light petroleum products (diesel, heating oil, gasoline, kerosene, avgas, various biofuels, such as biodiesel and ethanol) and addresses all of the noted changes in the marketplace.

Blackmer's new TXD1200 Series pumps, which will be available in port sizes of 2", 2.5" and 3" (model numbers TXD1220, TXD1225 and TXD1230, respectively), were debuted at the Atlantic Region Energy Expo (AREE) and Midwest Petroleum and Convenience Tradeshows (M-PACT) tradeshows in April 2008.

Although most parts and options remain common to the current TXD pumps including Duravanes, mechanical seals, bearings, relief valves (mechanical and pneumatic) and flange options, some basic changes have been made to the TXD1200 Series pumps to optimize performance and provide a longer service life.

These TXD1200 pump models are designed with a new cylinder body, with indicator holes drilled near the feet on the discharge side of the pump for external identification.

All the models are designed with a new rotor and shaft, along with new lock-nuts and nylon tipped set screws that reduce maintenance requirements.

The TXD1200 Series pumps are manufactured without push rods on the TXD1225 and TXD1220 models, while composite push rods are designed into the TXD1230.

The TXD1200 Series pumps are designed to perform at maximum pump speeds of 1200 rpm for the TXD1225 and TXD1220 pumps, and 900 rpm for the TXD1230 pump.

These flow rates are comparable to the current TXD pump models at minimum and maximum speeds— for example, a TXD2.5A pump running at 780 rpm provides a nominal flow of 157 gpm while the new TXD1225 pump running at 1200 rpm will provide a nominal flow of 157 gpm. The TXD1200 Series also has a maximum viscosity of 100 ssu to compliment its higher pump speeds.
